Monday

Happy Monday! We are nearing the end of the 2nd trimester, which means we have a lot of fun and exciting things going on in 4th grade! In writing the students are working on producing informational magazines! They will write 3 articles related to the same topic and publish all of them in a magazine format. They have already published one article of a known topic and will bringing those home this week. Our reading is very closely related to our writing as we are researching to learn more about our topics. The students are using books and online sources to gather information, categorize questions, and take notes on notecards to keep themselves organized. They are wonderful researchers! In math we have been working in differentiated groups to make sure everyone is learning in their best style and at a good speed for them as individuals. We have been focused on adding and subtracting fractions and mixed numbers. Students are also expected to find whether their answers are reasonable using estimations and benchmark fractions. In science we are wrapping up our electricity & magnetism unit. We will begin our next social studies unit next week.

Reminders: We will have time to pass out Valentine's on Wednesday, but they are not required. If you choose to bring them, please bring one for everyone in the class.

Homework: Math assignment from teacher, Science test tomorrow!
