Updates

We are doing a lot of wonderful things in fourth grade! Right now in writing the students are putting finishing touches on their informational magazines and beginning to write literary essays! They are writing "long" and including many transitional phrases and pieces of evidence to support their claim. In reading we are into our Historical Fiction unit. Students are working on skills including analyzing character traits and perspective, how parts of a text relate to the whole, and the theme of a story. In math we are wrapping up our Rational Numbers unit. This week we are working on relating fractions & decimals, and next week we will test before break. In social studies we have been learning about slavery and other causes leading up to the Civil War. We have discussed the many perspectives and problems our country faced in the 1800s.
