Monday

Happy Monday! This morning we began the week by writing kind things to one another on a poster taped to our backs. The kind notes were secret until the end of the activity when we got to see all the nice things our peers wrote! Today in writing we came up with subtopics that match our non-fiction topic. We used our main idea and introductory paragraph to help generate subtopics that our readers want to know more about. In reading we began a book about Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. We reviewed our good non-fiction reading skills including noticing key vocabulary, being able to summarize chapters or sections, and finding big ideas in the book. In math some students are switching rooms so that they can experience different learning styles and collaborate with other mathematicians in the grade level. We are all working on concepts related to equivalent fractions using a variety of models and strategies. In science we have jumped right into our electricity unit. Last week we learned about static electricity and this week we are beginning to explore actual circuits. Check out the photos from science in the prior post!
