Classroom Updates

We have been working hard in fourth grade! In writing we just finished our opinion/persuasive writing unit. The students published a 5 paragraph essay on a topic of their choice. They were able to research this topic and use many craft techniques to strengthen their writing. I'm so proud of their hard work! In reading we have transitioned from non-fiction skills back to fiction skills, mostly focusing on differing perspectives within a story. In math we are working on our division skills. We are having a quiz this week over Topic 5 and will begin Topic 6, which is also division, next week. The students have been working with peers and students that match their learning style. We will continue this structure next week with a few small changes. In social studies we started our second unit, Missouri Statehood & Westward Expansion. We are learning why people moved in the 1800s.
